THE 51st Rose Festival-2023 will take place from February 17 to February 19, and it will have a budget of 2.19 crore rupees.
Out of the overall budget of Rs 2.19 crore, there will be a total expenditure of Rs 1.40 crore on the light and sound show, which will be presented at the Rose Festival for the first time this year. According to our sources, the UT Administration has given their blessing to the three-day celebration as well as the dates that the Municipal Corporation, which is in charge of organising this event, has recommended.
“The Rose Festival-2023 is especially essential in light of the fact that Chandigarh is going to play host to not one but two G20 meetings: the first of which will take place in the month of January, and the second will take place at a later date. Even though we have started making preparations, we won’t be concentrating on flowers, particularly roses, until January, when the weather is expected to be more favourable. A top MC officer revealed that the officials of the horticulture wing, which is in charge of the Rose Garden in Sector 16, have been asked to “not to leave any stone unturned” in order to ensure the success of the event.
The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will serve as the inspiration for this year’s festival. It will be carried out in a manner similar to that of the Swachhta Survkeshan. Initially, Rs 80 lakh was approved for the light and sound performance, but during the MC house meeting on December 22, this amount was increased to Rs 50 lakh. The light and sound show will take place on December 22.
According to the information provided, Rs 34 lakh will be spent on water-proof tents, tea, coffee, and lunch, in addition to refreshments for chief guests and judges, MC personnel, and other relevant parties. It would cost Rs 10.03 lakh to make the necessary arrangements for the security lights, while Rs 18.45 lakh will be allocated for the branding of the Rose Festival. Passes, booklets, advertisements, a media centre, and prize tags are all included as part of the branding agreements. There would be a total expenditure of Rs 5.55 lakh for awards, souvenirs, gifts/toys, and the like for the participants, winners, key guests, chairman, and members of subcommittees, among other people.
